Jacko and the Beanstalk is an Australian take on Jack and the Beanstalk, creating a fun retelling of the classic. Written in rhyme it is a lively read for younger children who will have a great time with the words and illustrations.

             Never thinks, no thanks –
Jacko’s thick as three short planks.
Jacko spent all Mum’s money
On Magic seeds ... that’s not funny!

The rhythm and words used create a vibrant and energetic story. This energy is accentuated by the colourful illustrations, which populate the story narrative with fabulous Australian animals - from Jacko the Kangaroo, to the giant Croc who salivates, to the two cheeky geckoes who can be found on each page.

I’m sure young children will love this book. Jacko’s outing has a clever ending and the story told by the illustration adds a wonderful dimension to a satisfying tale of mischief and adventure.
