Rowley Jefferson's Awesome Friendly Adventure

Rowley Jefferson’s Awesome Friendly Adventure by Jeff Kinney (Puffin Books) PB RRP $14.99 ISBAN 9781760897888

Beloved characters and best friends Rowley Jefferson and Greg Heffley are reimagined in a quest by internationally bestselling author of The Diary of a Wimpy Kid series which has made author Jeff Kinney a household name. Rowley tells the tale of a Roland, a boy whose mother is kidnapped by the White Warlock and taken to his Ice Fortress where he is keeping her as his prisoner. Roland decides to rescue his mum on his own. At this point in the book, the story of Roland is suspended as Rowley shows what he’s written to his parents and friend Greg. The latter offers plenty of advice, including splitting the profits fifty-fifty if the book Rowley is writing ever gets published. Roland’s story then continues as a cast of characters is introduced, such as best friend Garg the Barbarian, dwarves, leeches, and the One-Eyed Wizard.

Like the Wimpy Kid books, this adventure tale, interspersed with chapters where Greg intervenes with writing advice, is action-packed, fast-paced, and mildly humorous.

This book is targeted at readers around nine to twelve years.
