The Paper Bag Princess has turned 40! It is cause for celebration that Elizabeth,
the fearless heroine, continues to inspire children all over the world to recognise
their self-worth, stand up for themselves and not let anyone or anything drag
them down.
Elizabeth, a beautiful princess, once lived in a castle and was set to marry a
prince named Ronald. Plans changed when a dragon burnt her castle to the ground
and took Ronald away. Amongst the devastation and destruction, loyal Elizabeth
found a paper bag to wear and set off to save her fiancé. Elizabeth, persistent
in her quest, eventually outwits the dragon to come to Ronald’s aid. Ungrateful
Ronald is less than impressed with the princess’s dishevelled appearance and
demands she comes back when she has smartened herself up. Elizabeth then does
the only thing a strong independent woman should do…
This 40th anniversary hardback edition includes a foreword by
Chelsea Clinton and a reflection by Robert’s wife, Ann, about how the story was
born. The Paper Bag Princess is highly recommended for children aged 4
years and over.
