Augusta (Gus) is an eleven-year-old girl who doesn’t like to make friends. Her
family never stays in one place long enough, so it seems pointless to her. True
to form, they are on the move again, running from the darkness that her mum’s psychic
abilities bring. They head out of town to seek a fresh start and end up taking
an offer to become live-in caretakers of the ‘Starlight Drive-In Movie
Theatre’.
The Starlight brings the family a positive new focus, but not without a myriad
of challenges. It also introduces them to an eclectic mix of characters that ensures
there is never a dull moment.
Gus and the Starlight is a heart-warming narrative about family,
friendship, overcoming obstacles and the pursuit of happiness. The novel will
take the middle-grade audience on an emotional journey that is sure to engage
them from start to finish. Gus and the Starlight is a delightful read
and highly recommended for readers aged 9 years and older.
