Everline Blackthorn is a warden who defends the Hallowed Lands against monsters
known as vespertine. She was born with a warden mark but is the only warden
without magic. Everline is an illegitimate child who feels like a burden to her
father, the Commander. While the enclave is all she has, Everline does not feel
a sense of belonging. The truth about her mother’s death has been kept from
her, and she can no longer ignore her desire to know the reality of her origins
and what happened on the night she was born. Everline feels a visceral link
between the monsters, her mother and herself, so she knowingly breaks her
warden vows to follow a vespertine to the Thousandfold. In her quest to seek
answers, she does not intend to be followed by her half-sister, lead her best
friend into danger or fall in love with a vespertine.
Unholy Terrors is a young adult fantasy suitable for
readers who enjoy narratives with dark magic, blood and bones, the
supernatural, and forbidden romance. If you like this book, you may also enjoy
