For many years Natalie and Imogen’s families have rented cabins at Estes Park
for two weeks over the summer. The best friends, who share a love of horror
movies and ghost programs, revel in this vacation spot as it is home to the famously
haunted Harlow Hotel, once a centre for supernatural exploration. While Natalie
loves the stories and hype surrounding ghosts, she does not believe people can
communicate with the dead, Imogen however is more open-minded and believes in
the ‘what if?’ On the last night of their vacation, in the summer before their
final year of high school, Imogen dies from an undiagnosed heart condition.
A year after the death of her best friend, Natalie returns to the Harlow Hotel
to complete her senior school project – to create audition footage for Ghost Chasers: Teen Investigators. To her surprise, she is not the only
person from her high school there to complete their project. The antagonistic
but handsome Leander Hall will also be staying at the Harlow Hotel for the next
ten days.
As Natalie starts work on her project a myriad of emotions soon arise that she
had not anticipated. Vivid memories, a psychic medium, strange occurrences, and
a romantic interest all cause her to become overwhelmed, threatening to derail the
completion of her project.
I’ll Be Waiting for You is a young adult novel that explores
friendship, grief and the paranormal. It is recommended for readers 14 years
and older.
