I wish you health and happiness,
But even when there’s pain…
I hope you see the rainbows
As you’re running through the rain.
A Wish for Baby is an illustrated poem which perfectly
expresses what I’d imagine most parents feel as their hopes and dreams for a
little person arriving in their lives. The wishes range from experiencing
bubble baths with rubber duckies, to jumping on trampolines in dress-up, to
climbing snow-capped mountains, to always being able to find your way back home
to those who love you.
The
illustrations by Sara Acton are exquisite with plenty of action and interesting
detail to capture the eye of a toddler or young child. The rhyme has a true and
consistent meter, making the combination of images and words a joy to read out
loud. I can imagine parents or grandparents reading this book over and over until
they know it off by heart. This book would make a delightful gift to celebrate
a newborn.
